Our program aims to teach surfing as a coping strategy for mental health, to connect young people to community, to deliver education on mental health & wellbeing and to provide exposure to the healing powers of the ocean.
This year we will provide two programs – one in Warrnambool and one in Portland, all thanks to our funding partners South West Community Foundation and Helen McPherson Smith Trust.
The education sessions are ran by qualified practitioners from a range of Brophy programs including headspace, DARE, Healthy Relationships, as well as community leaders in the health and wellbeing field whilst the surfing lessons are provided by our partner Go-Surf School Port Fairy.
The program would not be possible without our volunteer mentors from our local surfing community who support our participants on a 1:1 basis.
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN with the programs commencing early November 2021.
