About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Mental Health Clinician who is an experienced professional, skilled in delivering early intervention services to young people with mild to moderate mental health needs. This role will involve managing a caseload of evidence-based interventions across various funding streams within the headspace stepped care model. It also focuses on engaging young people creatively and assertively to encourage early help-seeking behaviours.
In addition to delivering care, our Senior Mental Health Clinician will provide clinical supervision and support to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring safe, youth-friendly, culturally appropriate, and evidence-based services. This role also supports clinical decision-making, collaborates with external stakeholders, and assists in staff development, orientation, and training. One of the primary duties is to promote continuous improvement by evaluating service outcomes and feedback systems, aiming to enhance care for young people and their families.
Do your skills include:
- A sound knowledge of the common mental health issues faced by young people, with demonstrated experience and advanced skills in delivering mental health interventions in a range of mental health settings to young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health presentations.
- Providing support, consultation and expertise to clinical staff and private practitioners in the delivery of early intervention mental health care, and services for young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families
- Delivering a range of psychological interventions; including individual therapy, group work, and family work to an allocated caseload of clients with mild to moderate mental health needs across the headspace stepped care model.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Are your credentials:
- Qualifications in an Allied Health discipline including Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing (Div 1) or Occupational Therapy. Occupational therapists who have full and current professional registration to practice from AHPRA must also have completed additional mental health-specific training or endorsement in mental health. Division 1 Mental Health Nurses who have full and current professional registration must also have completed mental health specific training or have endorsement in mental health.
- Current full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (APHRA); or membership of eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) .
- Current eligibility as an Allied Mental Health Professional to provide Medicare funded psychological therapies.
- A current Drivers Licence. (The position will require regular travel throughout the region to deliver services and support headspace Hamilton and outreach service teams).
Desirable;
- Current registration as an APHRA approved supervisor for psychology internships is desirable but not essential.
