About the Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity available to join our headspace team as a Youth Mental Health Worker.  In this role you will be instrumental in supporting young people through early intervention and youth-friendly models.

You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of evidence-based interventions that facilitate early help seeking behaviour and seamless access to early intervention health and wellbeing services across the headspace four core service platforms of mental health; physical and sexual health; alcohol and other drugs; and vocational and educational assistance.

Our Youth Mental Health Worker will involve working closely with young people and their families to build resilience and improve mental health outcomes. Through creative, client-focused approaches, you’ll provide psychological therapy, facilitate access to services, and promote early help-seeking behaviours. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people in our community.

The successful candidate will be based in Hamilton, with the expectation of regular travel during work hours to our regional locations.

Do your skills include:

  • Knowledge of mental health as it relates to young people and discipline-specific intervention options for young people experiencing high prevalence mental health problems.
  • Experience in developing and delivering group programs or social connection activities with young people.
  • Experience working with young people in a health, youth or clinical setting including demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, identify and manage risk appropriate to role, and utilise various therapeutic modalities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the appropriate legislation, case management practice, and the ability to adhere to policy and procedures.

 

Are your credentials:

  • A minimum qualification of a sector recognised and accredited Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nurse or Counsellor. Qualifications must be approved by recognised professional bodies: g. AASW, AHPRA, ACA, APS etc. Eligibility to pursue accredited pathways is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in a mental health-focused environment, preferably with young people.
  • A current Drivers Licence
