Leading psychologist Andrew Fuller.
A renowned clinical psychologist and internationally acclaimed author will deliver a free community forum for families, carers and educators across the Southern Grampians region, focused on practical ways to support youth mental health and wellbeing.
The Understanding Youth forum will provide strategies to help teens build resilience, navigate challenges, develop confidence and maintain healthy relationships and habits in an increasingly complex world.
The forum will be delivered by Andrew Fuller, who has worked with more than 500,000 young people and over 4,000 schools across Australia and internationally.
The event forms part of the Understanding Youth series, delivered across 28–29 May, which includes three tailored sessions designed for educators, parents and students.
The series is led by Wellways in collaboration with local youth sector partners, responding to identified community and educator needs.
A spokesperson said the series provides a valuable opportunity for the region.
“Young people are navigating a more complex world than ever before, and it’s important that the adults around them feel confident and supported as well. This series is about giving people practical tools they can use in everyday situations.”
The Understanding Youth series includes:
- Seminar: Working with your school or family to convert neurodiversity into neuroadvantage (educators and parents/carers)
- Community Forum: Building resilience and supporting youth mental health and wellbeing
- Student Workshop: Brainology – Your Amazing Brain (Grades 6 and 7 students)
The community forum will be hosted by Muster Dogs’ Jack Kennedy and will include opportunities to connect with local youth service providers, with information stalls, panel discussions and door prizes on offer.
The forum is open to anyone supporting or raising young people, including parents, carers, educators, community groups and sporting clubs.
“We know there’s a real appetite in the community for practical, accessible support when it comes to youth mental health. This event is about equipping people with the skills and confidence to better support the young people in their lives.”
