The return of Brophy’s popular Friday Feed will give participants the chance to reconnect with friends over a free meal.

The community program, which will re-start from May 27 after a two-year break due to COVID-19, will kick off at 10am and go through to 1pm. It will be held at the Brophy Cafe at 210 Timor Street.

Everyone is welcome to sample toasties, fresh soup and coffee served up by the Tasty Plate team.

Brophy Housing Support and Linkages senior worker Michael Gysen said it was “extremely exciting” to have the once-a-week event back on the agenda.

For the past two years, community members have continued to ask Brophy staff when Friday Feed will return,” Michael said.

“We can now finally get back to sharing a laugh over some hot food and delicious coffee.”

Michael said the Friday Feed was a place for connection.

“It’s a space where people can relax, refuel, and re-engage with friends,” he said.

“The Friday Feed is also a great space for participants to get information on other Brophy programs.

“Brophy workers are able to come down and casually introduce selves to participants, putting a friendly face to a service and breaking down stigmas and other barriers of accessing support.”

In the past Warrnambool businesses and charities have provided take-home food packages for participants. Michael said Brophy was exploring bringing this back.
