A cup of coffee with an important message this Foster Care Week

Coffee drinkers across south west Victoria might notice something a little different on their takeaway cups this Foster Care Week.

Brophy is partnering with local cafés across Warrnambool, Hamilton and Portland to help raise awareness of the ongoing need for foster carers, with specially designed Maxie’s Adventures stickers appearing on takeaway coffee cups across the region.

The stickers carry a simple message: Kids like Maxie need carers like you.

You’ll find them on cups at Rough Diamond, Jude and Silver Fox in Warrnambool, The Roxburgh in Hamilton and twelvefold in Portland, helping take the foster care conversation beyond our services and into the places people visit every day.

The campaign forms part of Brophy’s Foster Care Week activities and is designed to get people thinking about foster care in a simple, approachable way.

For Brophy, Foster Care Week is an opportunity not only to recognise the incredible contribution of existing foster carers, but also to remind our community that there are children and young people who need safe, supportive homes and adults willing to make a difference in their lives.

And while a sticker on a coffee cup might be small, the conversation it starts can be much bigger.

Becoming a foster carer can look different for different people and families, and carers can provide support in a range of ways. You don’t need to have all the answers before making an enquiry, sometimes the first step is simply finding out more.

A huge thank you to Rough Diamond, Jude, Silver Fox, The Roxburgh and twelvefold for helping us spread the message across our communities this Foster Care Week.
