Brophy Family and Youth Services is encouraging south-west people affected by recent debate over transgender, gender diverse and non-binary inclusion to take extra care, swipe with caution online, and reach out to friends and supports.
The transgender, gender diverse and non-binary community are experiencing higher rates of mental distress leading into the upcoming election and are being unfairly targeted.
This has stemmed from the marriage equality plebiscite, the Religious Freedom Bill, and comments and actions from parliamentary members in the lead up to the May 21 federal election.
In this time of distress Brophy urges those affected to take extra care.
Brophy Family and Youth Services is a proud Rainbow Tick accredited organisation and is committed to the Embracing Equality Charter. Brophy supports ending of inequalities and discrimination experienced by LGBTIQA+ people and is dedicated to creating an equitable and inclusive community where all people are valued, supported, and celebrated.
We strive to challenge social injustices and promote social and emotional wellbeing for all our community – including all our LGBTIQA+ rainbow community.
Brophy Family and Youth Services recognises the strength, and resilience within the Transgender, Gender Diverse and Non-binary (TGDNB) community, we also know that there is strong power in allyship, where we can provide a service that allows for a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for some of our most vulnerable people who experience high levels of stigma, discrimination, and victimisation.
