A youth inspired e-mag has landed in support of headspace Day 2021!
headspace day is a national day of support for the mental health and wellbeing of all young Australians and celebrated in the month of October along side Mental Health Week. With this year’s focus on the theme of ‘Small Steps Start Big Things’ aimed at encouraging young people to focus on the future with ‘small steps’ to support their mental wellbeing. the idea of a e-mag focused on what they wanted to read about was born.
From the beginning they wanted to create something meaningful that could also assist young people wherever they may live in the South West. With this theme in mind, team members from headspace Warrnambool and Portland, the headspace Warrnambool Youth Reference Group members and Live4Life Glenelg Crew members created ‘a youth inspired e-magazine’. The magazine has been created to celebrate mental health week in a meaningful yet innovative way in our current environment.
The magazine from beginning to end is youth inspired, filled with important information, tips and fun activities to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing. The team wanted the magazine to be calming, aesthetic and mindful. The magazine is super youth friendly and for any young person who lives across the South West!
Finding a sense of purpose during these challenging times helps people feel connected and can have a positive impact on young people’s mental health. Taking regular, small actions that form healthy habits can help manage feelings of isolation, lack of motivation, anxiety or stress. By spending 5 to 10 mins each day on something that helps you to slow down a little, create a routine, connect with someone, or simply taking a moment to breathe, is really important for your mental health.
Mental health and wellbeing evidenced based information relevant to young people is provided from headspace, Drug and Alcohol Responding Early (DARE) service, SAFE in the South West, Glenelg Shire Council and Live4life. The amazing digital art on the front cover and throughout has been created by Saf Design a young local artist.
