Transitional Housing Support Service

The Youth Homelessness Support team offers individual support for young people (aged 15-25) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Individuals can be supported in parts of their lives including housing, mental health and wellbeing, financial, education and employment, and building on their practical live skills to allow them to transition into independent living.

Transitional housing provides safe and secure accommodation for young people to get back in control of their lives. Transitional houses are targeted at low income earners that have been unable to access other accommodation such as private rental.

Transitional housing support service not only provides housing, but an assigned case worker can assist with achieving the goals that have been set by the individual. These may include, returning to school, engaging with mental health services, or ceasing use of drugs or alcohol.

If you live in a transitional house, you will be signed up on a medium term lease. You will pay bills as well as a reduced rent. Maintaining your lease gives residents at the end of their stay a rental reference for private rentals.

You can access the Youth Homelessness Support team or Transitional Housing through the Access and Engagement Team (intake), at the Community & Youth Complex at 210 Timor Street Warrnambool.

Appointments can be made in person or by calling 5561 8888.

If you live in Hamilton or Portland, intake is through Salvo Connect
