Kulcha Shift Projects

 

NYW -OPEN MIC & ART WORKSHOPS

An art-based project that aims to help young people in Warrnambool recognise, celebrate and honour diversity within themselves and their community.

The project has three components

1) Production and collation of individual pieces of artwork into a singular piece – Plus 10 artworks postcards.

2) Video-documentation of this process to provide a space for young people to reflect and speak on their understanding of diversity.

3) The celebration of this process via a public event and marketing campaign of the art work and process behind it.

To achieve these goals, the project will form a National Youth Week (NYW) Committee comprising of young people in the community who are living with a variety of social impacting factors. Once the NYW Committee is formed, the Project worker will facilitate and assist the committee to create workshops and activities to collect and produce the art piece(s) from across the community.

CALL OUT -                Artists to contribute works for display during NYW and inclusion on postcards to be distributed in community

                                   10 x individual artworks will be selected - postcards

                                   All 10 to be included on one DL postcard

Art Workshops:        

1 x Thursday 16 March 4 – 6 pm @ Brophy CYC

1 x Friday 24 March 4-6 @ Brophy CYC during Open Mic event

1 x Saturday 1 April 4-6 pm Snake Sessions –Warrnambool Skate Park

Celebration event: Date TBA - Presentation of individual postcards, group cards
